In-Kind Partners

In-kind donations play a vital role in the success of the Mission ministries. Hundreds of thousands of usable items of clothing, furniture, food, equipment and supplies were given to the Mission last year. Most of these were passed on directly to help those in need. A portion, primarily clothing, were sold through the Mission thrift and help stores at significantly lower than market prices, with the proceeds being used to help fund other Mission ministries. In addition to the above benefits of in-kind gifts, Mission funds were freed to meet other emergency needs and expenses directly related to ministries. There are many examples of businesses, churches and other organizations making a special commitment to provide in-kind gifts. We would like to highlight two groups which exerted special efforts during 2006.

Ford Construction Company – Through the years this company has been a staunch supporter of the Mission at various times.  In late 2007, they built a new 900-ft. road, parking area, and turn-around area for our new Retreat Center that will be built in 2008 at our New Life Youth Camp.  Each year they also donate the use of a tent during Camp.  Their kind considerations free up our dollars to help us accomplish more in the lives of people.  Thanks!  J

State Gazette - Through the efforts of the State Gazette, an informed community continues to respond to help make what we do successful, keeping our needs and programs, what we’ve accomplished in the lives of this community, special projects and endeavors, growth, etc., in the public eye.  In doing this, they have freed our dollars to be used to meet the needs of more people.  Therefore, we give special recognition to the management and staff of the Dyersburg News & State Gazette.

Volunteer Partners

The Mission would not have the effective outreach in so many ministries that it has today if it were not for its volunteers. They are all important and bring a wide variety of talents and time commitment to the Mission. The following volunteers made special commitments of their time and talents and we wish to recognize them:

Linda Haley – Store volunteers sometimes come and go, but Linda has been a very faithful volunteer for over 18 years.  She works more hours some weeks than many people do who have a paid job, and she does it all without pay.  (At least, the Mission does not pay her.  She has her own kind of reward from the Lord!)  Even with all the hours she puts in at the Mission, she’s always willing to work extra during especially busy seasons.  Thank you, Linda.  We couldn’t do it without you!

Melissa MeltonCamp Nurses are not easily found, especially those like Melissa.  Words that come to mind when thinking of Melissa and her work at Camp are “professional,” “dependable,” “caring,” “conscientious,” and “above and beyond.”  Melissa has served up to one week per camp for a majority of the camp years.  She also updates our first aid kit each year.  She started as Camp Nurse before she married, and now her children are camp volunteers.  She also serves on our Camp Committee.  Thanks for all you do, Melissa!  You’re great!
