Church groups at Camp

As I write this, we are about to finish up our last week of Camp – that’s the sixth week!  This week is the Lauderdale County Camp, where we have about 25 campers from Lauderdale.  We’re not as well staffed as I’d like to be, but once again, committed counselors and other volunteers are making it happen.

This year, because we have the Retreat Center, we had two youth groups come to Camp as their mission trip and actually pay to work at Camp!  The Mission benefits, Camp benefits, the campers benefit, and the youth group gets some really awesome benefits.

So how do these two paragraphs fit together?  Well, I’d like to see more church groups adopt a week of Camp and come work at Camp as their mission trip.  It doesn’t have to be only youth groups, and it doesn’t have to always be out of town groups.  What about your Sunday School class?  What about your small group?  What about the youth group at your church?

Would they enjoy ministering to kids who need to know that Jesus loves them?  Would your group like to get away for a week of ministry without leaving West Tennessee?  Would you like to help defray the cost of doing this Camp, while doing an extremely affordable trip?  If this interests you, please contact me early so we can begin to plan for next summer.  I will post a copy of the tentative schedule for next summer on my blog at www.nlyc.blogspot.com.

Also, if you know of a church group that may be out of town, please forward some information to them.  I’d like to fill up as much of our schedule as we can with groups that want to adopt a week of Camp.

Don’t go thinking we won’t need the volunteer support that we’ve always needed, though.  Both weeks that we had groups involved this year, I still needed help from a long list of volunteers.  And, if you were one of those, thank you so much.  Hope to see you next year!
